The Federal Way Coalition Against Trafficking (FWCAT) is a group of Federal Way and King County community members committed to educating and engaging our community so everyone has a role in ending human trafficking. Our mission arose from concern about the rising rate of human trafficking activity in Federal Way and the safety of our families living there.
Striving to eliminate human trafficking from our city and from King County, FWCAT focuses on three main areas of change:
We generate community awareness by providing opportunities for community members to learn and share knowledge about and experiences with human trafficking. We hold monthly community meetings which include presentations on human trafficking and related topics. We also hold an annual January Forum in honor of National Anti-Human Trafficking Awareness month. For more info, visit the events calendar.
We advocate for justice by using our voice to hold government and law enforcement accountable to create strong anti-human trafficking laws and enforce them effectively so that prosecutions of traffickers and buyers can occur.
We provide FREE training opportunities on a range of human trafficking topics for schools, parent groups, youth groups, civic organizations & clubs, faith communities, and other community groups. If you would like to request a presentation, please email us at email@example.com.
How can you make a difference to stop human trafficking in Federal Way?
Volunteer. Use your unique skills and talents to raise awareness and further the fight against human trafficking. Each year FWCAT hosts our Break the Chains 5K race/walk fundraiser in May. It is the largest anti-human trafficking event in Washington State and we need volunteers like you to make it happen! We also have an awareness/education kiosk stationed year-round at the Federal Way Commons Mall and need volunteers to staff it. If you are interested in these or other volunteer opportunities, let us know! We’d love to have you join our team!
Speak Up. Use your voice to influence and strengthen anti-human trafficking legislation.
Learn. Educate yourself on the realities of human trafficking and share your knowledge with others.
Donate. Use your resources to help prevent future cases of human trafficking. Donate directly to FWCAT programs by selecting the Federal Way Coalition Against Trafficking routing option on the donate page.
